Itinerary for the Peru Journey
Friday, Oct 24:  Arrive Cusco and settle into accommodations near the central square. We meet Carla Woody at our lodging for the opening circle at 4 PM to frame the intent of our journey. Continue at group dinner getting to know each other. Dinner not included.
Saturday, Oct 25:  Today is dedicated to Mama Coca as we participate in coca spiritual practices and learn about the importance of this plant for the very life of the Indigenous peoples. In this day we connect with a hidden pre-Inca site sacred for water rituals at Cusco's edge, ending the day with a ceremony at the Temple of the Moon. Breakfast/box lunch included.
Sunday, Oct 26:  Our first stop today is the Corn House in the village of Calca whose mission is to preserve the myriad corn varieties threatened and continuation of sacred connection to this plant. In another village close by, we visit a private project whose intent is to teach children traditional music and replace instruments lost in the floods. Here we enjoy a concert from the students. Our visit to these two places supports their mission. Our day closes with a ceremony for Water at the sacred ceremonial site of Urco. Breakfast/lunch included.
Monday, Oct 27:  We venture to the outskirts of Cusco to the ancient Awkayllo zone and the Inka Roka family property to engage with the direct descendants of the Panaka Inka of the Urin Qosqo dynasty, breaking bread in a traditional pachamanca (meal cooked in an underground oven), enjoying music and the ceremonial site. Breakfast/lunch included.
Tuesday, Oct 28:  Mid-morning we gather for a circle to begin grounding our experiences through sharing as we wish. In the afternoon we depart for the village of Paucartambo where we spend the night in preparation for our journey to Q'ero. Breakfast included.
Wednesday, Oct 29:  On this day we leave in the morning and travel via transport to where the road ends up to Q'ero. We transfer to horseback or walk as you wish. Enjoying the incredible scenery along the way, we arrive in the Q'ero village of Ccochamocco approximately mid-afternoon. Greet the community and settle into our lodging for a good night's rest. All meals included.
Thursday, Oct 30:  This morning we visit the schools, have activities with the children and stretch our skills to learn math in the ancestral Inca way. In the afternoon we make stops visiting in the community, led by one of the Q'ero spiritual leaders and end the day with an outside ritual by one of the beautiful flowing streams. All meals included.
Friday, Oct 31:  All day we engage with community elders and paqo's (shamans) as they share their cosmology and medicine teachings and spend time at the new ancestral wisdom center. We reciprocate by offering any stories and natural medicine teachings we may have. Late afternoon into evening we share a despacho ceremony, or blessing ritual, and traditional Q'ero music with the community. All meals included.
Saturday, Nov 1:  Early morning we reluctantly bid our Q'ero friends goodbye and return to Cusco, hearts filled to the brim. Breakfast/lunch included.
Sunday, Nov 2:  Free time to rest, reflect on the journey and further discover Cusco on your own. We end this day with a late afternoon closing circle and farewell dinner. Breakfast included.
Monday, Nov 3:  Fly to Lima and journey home. Breakfast included.
